Marley (Marz) King is a London representative on the Green Party Regional Council (GPRC). She is also an interim co-ordinator of the London Green Party.
Marz is on the Watchlist because we think she poses a threat to the wellbeing of GPEW and should not be in any position of power or influence.
In November 2024 Marz published the following tweet:
This is problematic for several reasons:
- We understand that it was Marz who made the complaint that resulted in the suspension of the member and that staff initially refused to convey the decision to the member because they were concerned it was imposed without adequate evidence.
- It is not the role of the CEO or the Safeguarding Officer to convey Disciplinary decisions to the member concerned.
- It breaches the confidentiality of the disciplinary process.
- It makes a serious public allegation, against standard safeguarding practices, about the suspended member (which we have redacted).
- Although the member is not named their identity could probably be guessed by many.
- Any other member suspended in this time frame could wrongly be assumed to be the person accused.
- It opened the Party to potential defamation claims.
- It accuses the acting CEO & the Safeguarding Officer of putting the safety of other members at risk. An allegation that, as staff members, they cannot reply to on Twitter (X).
- The accusation could have a serious detrimental effect on the reputation and employment prospects (present & future) of the staff members concerned.
- We believe this contributed to the resignation of a senior staff member.
- Such open criticism of senior staff by a senior elected member of the Party could have impacted on the, then ongoing, recruitment process to appoint a new CEO.
- Marz refused to take the Tweet down when requested to do so.
We understand that at least one complaint was made about this but that the Dispute & Complaints Referral Group (DCRG) rejected it.
Marz does not respect confidentiality or show any concern for the potential effect of her words on others or the Party.
We would urge people NOT to vote for Marz King in any election, and not even place her name below RON.
